About this project

Purpose: The project aims to provide comprehensive, survivor-centered support to individuals affected by gender-based violence (GBV), particularly conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria. It integrates medical, psychosocial, protection, legal, and economic empowerment interventions while strengthening local systems and community-based structures to foster resilience and long-term sustainability. Key Activities: Establishment of one-stop centers and Women & Girls Safe Spaces for integrated GBV and SRH services. Provision of psychosocial support, clinical management of rape, legal counselling, cash assistance, dignity kits, and vocational training. Capacity-building for government authorities, local partners, and community structures. Community engagement activities including awareness sessions, EMAP, and protection monitoring. Emergency preparedness planning and rapid response readiness. Expected Outcomes: Survivors and at-risk individuals access timely, lifesaving, and coordinated GBV and SRH services. Strengthened local and government capacity to prevent and respond to GBV. Enhanced community resilience and economic empowerment, contributing to safer, more equitable environments. Rationale: The protracted conflicts and insecurity in Borno, Katsina, and Zamfara have led to widespread GBV and limited access to essential services.
