About this project
Project FISHNET consortium involves national NGOs, CBOs, and INGO, with technical support from Institute of Marine Sciences of Chittagong University. It aims to address the structural causes of poverty among marginalized fisherfolk while reducing degradation of marine ecosystems, particularly by revitalizing common pool resources. Through capacity and building agency, FISHNET empowers fisherfolk, facilitating their involvement in decision-making processes and resource-management. By establishing community-managed MPAs, it conserves marine ecosystems, provides access to resources and financial inclusion, and offers diversified livelihoods, with focus on empowering women fisherfolk and reducing child labour. FISHNET aims to enhance resilience, promote equity, and foster thriving marine life.
