About this project

The project aims to bring about lasting improvements in the living conditions of vulnerable populations in Liptako Gourma, a cross-border region (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger) facing ecological, climatic, socio-economic, and security challenges. It is based on an integrated, multisectoral approach that is sensitive to climate and conflict risks, combining humanitarian assistance, early recovery, and peacebuilding to strengthen resilience and ensure protection against acute and chronic shocks (conflict, food insecurity, environmental degradation). The project incorporates a transformative gender approach aimed at challenging discriminatory social norms, empowering women and girls, and promoting inclusive and equitable practices at all levels of intervention. Intersectionality, particularly the specific needs of displaced adolescent girls, women with disabilities, and young mothers, will be systematically integrated into the design and implementation of activities. Aligned with the objectives of the Sahel Regional Fund (SRF), the project has four main areas of focus: (i) multisectoral emergency assistance, (ii) strengthening livelihoods and resilience, (iii) consolidating social cohesion and inclusive governance, and (iv) improving cross-border surveillance and early warning systems.
