About this project

This project aims to ‘strengthen the resilience of poor and vulnerable communities affected by the security crisis and the effects of climate change in Burkina Faso’ through the following specific objective: to improve the living conditions of vulnerable local communities in 11 municipalities in the Centre-North and Sahel regions. To achieve this, a theory of change (ToC) is structured around approaches that will enable the consortium to: (i) restore livelihoods through non-productive and productive social protection activities. This will mainly involve the distribution of small ruminants, village-based poultry farming and the distribution of agro-pastoral inputs. It will also aim to protect livelihoods by strengthening productive capacities through the development of agro-pastoral zones, the rehabilitation of degraded land, the integration of climate scenarios into Communal Development Plans (CDPs) and the distribution of agro-pastoral inputs. These actions will contribute to strengthening and protecting livelihoods as well as the productive capacities of vulnerable households, including internally displaced persons. (ii) Furthermore, the use of productive social safety nets to protect livelihoods, as well as labour-intensive works (LIW), which will be carried out in collaboration with the municipalities, will provide a source of financial resources to strengthen the financial capacities of beneficiaries.
