About this project
In recent years, the issue of women's economic empowerment and gender equality has gained considerable attention globally. Despite this, women in many regions continue to face significant barriers to economic participation, particularly in rural areas. Adamawa State in Nigeria, is one region where women encounter substantial challenges affecting their livelihoods and overall economic status. The economic activities in this region are heavily influenced by traditional gender roles, which often restrict women to subsistence farming and petty trading. As rightly captured in the call, the economy in the region is characterised by small-scale farming and informal economic activities and suffers from the population’s limited access to knowledge, inputs, finance, and markets as well as the lack of peace and stability. Access to formal education is low, and many people do not have access to new agricultural, technical, and vocational knowledge and skills. This intervention is aimed at addressing the identified economic constraints by improving the economic participation, climate resilience, and technical skills of Women in Guyuk LGA leading to sustainable livelihood and economic empowerment of women. These limitations hinder women's ability to access larger markets, financial services, and opportunities for skill development, contributing to their economic disenfranchisement and perpetuating gender inequality.
