About this project

Situation overview Escalating humanitarian crisis in Puntland and Somaliland: Somalia is facing a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis in Puntland and Somaliland, where prolonged dry conditions have affected over 2.5 million people across 26 districts including 887,000 people in severely impacted areas. Rural communities are experiencing acute shortages of water and food, compounded by significant funding cuts that have severely weakened the humanitarian response. IFRC has supported SRCS to launch a Complex Crisis Emergency Appeal seeking CHF 15 million to support 450,000 people. The appeal has already received CHF 981,311 DREF allocation to kick start the emergency response. BRC-Funding BRC will support the Emergency through a grant of £150K channelled multilaterally through IFRC. £20K will be earmarked to deployment of an Operations Manager profile who will be relevant in steering the implementation of the operation plan and support resource mobilization. This will support in continuing the work already started by the Ops Manager profile previously deployed from the BRC register. In addition, £130K of the grants will be earmarked to WASH and Health sectors as per the IFRC Somalia Complex Crisis Operational strategy of this appeal Sources of funds:-Repurposed £75K from Africa Food Crisis appeal income-Repurposed £20K underspend from MCF 2025 budget-Repurposed £13K underspend from Chad (Sudan) P-Code-Adding £42k from Africa DM budget (£20K earmarked to the Ops Manager)
