About this project

The Women’s Solidarity Fund grant from CAFOD aims to strengthen the capacity and resilience of a local women-led organization in Sudan that is working to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This funding comes at a critical time, as women-led organisations face shrinking civic space, funding cuts, and growing protection risks, which directly impact their ability to serve women and girls. Through this support, the project will enhance the organisation’s technical capacity, including improving staff skills in GBV case management, survivor-centred approaches, and safe referral practices. It will also reinforce operational and leadership capacity by supporting essential organisational needs, internal systems, and women’s leadership development. By strengthening both the organisation and the community-level GBV referral pathway, the project contributes to a safer environment where women and girls can access timely and quality protection services. Overall, the grant will help ensure that a women-led organisation remains active, capable, and influential in GBV prevention and response efforts, ultimately advancing women’s rights, agency, and safety in Sudan.
