About this project

The Global Ocean Accounts Partnership (GOAP) is the world's leading partnership for ocean accounting. Working with governments and regional organisations, GOAP helps countries develop the evidence needed to manage their oceans sustainably, strengthen ocean governance and unlock investment in the blue economy. By integrating environmental, social and economic data into a single decision-making framework, GOAP ensures the benefits of the ocean are recognised, measured and reflected in national policies and plans. Through Blue Planet Fund support, GOAP has delivered 20 ocean account development initiatives, compiled 36 ocean accounting datasets, established or strengthened 25 governance mechanisms, and trained more than 1,400 people across 420 organisations. These efforts are helping countries integrate environmental, social and economic data into decisions on ocean management, economic development and investment.
