About this project

The aim of this project is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. It seeks to contribute to strengthening rights holders and duty bearers’ participation to enhance sustainable co-existence between crop farmers and herders in cattle settlement communities in Sierra Leone. The project also builds the Community Action Group’s (CAG)[1]capacity to deliver results by deriving and disseminating lessons learned from NMJD’s experience in delivering the Promoting Sustainable Co-Existence and Healthy Living Conditions project funded by Irish Aid Programme Grant through Christian Aid – Sierra Leone to other 4 districts in Sierra Leone namely, Falaba, Koinadugu, Tonkilili and Bombali[2]. [1] CAGs are community –based established to tackle conflict and build peace in Lei Chiefdom. They comprise, women, youth, cattle rearers crop farmers and local chiefs especially the section and town chiefs. [2] These districts have been targeted because they are closer to Kono-the pilot district. The districts also have very active cattle settlement communities compared to other districts in Sierra Leone.
