Congcoop: Fortaleciendo la organización comunitaria y esfuerzos de adaptación climática en Guatemala

About this project

This is a two-component project, the first consists of strategies to influence the public policy process at the national and local levels, with the aim of generating legal frameworks and social programs that protect human rights and have an inclusive perspective. Advocacy efforts at the national level occur in Congress, specifically in the Finance and Currency Commission, and in the Agriculture Commission; and within the Government, with the Ministries of Agriculture and Public Health. At the local level, the incidence is carried out in two municipalities in the department of Sololá, but also working in strengthening community organizing and social audit efforts review the design and execution of municipal budgets. The second major component of this project is adaptation to climate change through the dissemination and strengthening of agroecological practices in the northern transversal strip of Guatemala, especially focused on the department of Alta Verapaz.
