About this project

Phase I successfully established aggregation systems, trained farmers, and increased honey production. However, key challenges remain: Post-Harvest Loss: During the rainy season, honey often exceeds 20% moisture content, leading to fermentation and spoilage. Inclusion Gap: Traditional protective gear limits participation of older farmers and those with mobility challenges. Market Readiness: Many farmers lack access to tools for quality assurance, traceability, and value addition beyond honey. Phase II directly addresses these gaps by professionalizing harvesting, preventing post-harvest losses with digital moisture monitoring, ensuring inclusive participation, and training farmers in value addition and bookkeeping. The project will strengthen the honey value chain, increase farmer incomes, and position Nyuki Hubs’ products for premium domestic and regional markets.
