About this project

The project's main objective is to strengthen peacebuilding efforts and enhance resilient, sustainable livelihoods in Gokwe South by empowering 1,000 at-risk households to achieve improved social cohesion, economic stability, and long-term community resilience. The project adopts a livelihood for peace approach, recognizing the link between equitable access to sustainable livelihoods and strengthened community cohesion. Evidence from similar rural contexts demonstrates that livelihood interventions when integrated with peacebuilding tools such as conflict analysis, dialogue, mediation, psychosocial support, and reintegration enhance both social stability and economic resilience. By prioritizing equitable access to sustainable livelihoods, the project advances the organization's thrust to end poverty while addressing root drivers of conflict. When livelihood support is combined with peacebuilding measures/tools, it both reduces drivers of instability and multiplies long-term economic and social gains for vulnerable communities.
