About this project
The activity focuses at strengthening community-based governance and sustainable management of wetland and grassland ecosystems in the pilot municipalities of Ormon-Khan, Cholpon, and Sary-Bulak (Kochkor District, Naryn Region), within the Son-Kul Lake area, an internationally recognized Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA). The activity focuses on building the capacities of local communities, community-based organizations, and local authorities to jointly plan, monitor, and implement conservation and natural resource management actions through participatory, rights-based, and gender-responsive approaches. It will also promote environmental awareness, knowledge exchange, and social mobilization to foster inclusive decision-making and ensure long-term stewardship of biodiversity and cultural landscapes.
