About this project
Intellectual Property and Labour Law Workshop – In April, we successfully conducted a 2-day workshop focused on Intellectual Property, Labor Law, and Freedom of Speech, specifically tailored for queer artists. This capacity-building event was attended by 7 queer artists who are actively engaged in various creative fields. The workshop provided crucial insights into the legal protections and rights available to artists, particularly within the context of their creative practices and the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Obodo Liberty Workshop The Liberty workshop is a monthly initiative to engage members of the community in conversations and education on various areas of the law and legal issues as they affect LGBTQ+ existence in Nigeria. The goals of the workshop are to empower the community with law knowledge as a way to remove one layer of disadvantage dealt with by the LGBTQ+ community. The first Liberty Workshop was held on 29 September with an audience of 29 attendees. The second workshop held on 27th October 2024 with 25 persons in attendance. The theme for the second workshop was "Labour Rights and You". A total of 61 persons have attended workshops so far
