Host Art Workshops

About this project

The first artists workshop was a two-day event held on the 26th and 27th of July, 2024. The first day was an exclusive workshop for 8 key LGBTQ+ artists with whom Obodo engages directly. The second day, there were 50 persons in attendance. 7 artists with different mediums were invited to discuss their artworks and artistic processes with other artists and community members. Knowledge was shared and conversations were centered around ways to represent queer histories and realities in various art forms, and the amplification of queer art. Each of the cohort members sat on a panel discussion, spoke about their projects and answered questions from community. Afterwards, each artist had a breakout room to conduct an open studio and share their process and insight with the audience. The third artist workshop was held on the 11th of October 2023 prior to the International Artist Residency exhibition for 'When Womxn Gather'. At this workshop in conversation with the first International artist, Jessica Langdon, she discussed her motivations, artistic processes, and inspirations…
