About this project

Obodo has hosted three public art exhibitions since pride month in June. During pride at the launch of the human rights centre, 24 pieces from six artists within our community were showcased in the centre for four weeks. Additionally, we coordinated two other exhibitions within the HRC, one featuring our Queer Artist Fund cohort members and one featuring our International Artist Resident. The QAF exhibition, "The Politics of Queerness", featured 7 artists across multiple disciplines including: film, painting, fashion design, photography and performance art. The QAF exhibition is open from October 5th until November 6th, so far between 2 opening nights and weekend viewings, 95 guests have experienced the Politics of Queerness exhibition and counting. Our first international artist residency exhibition included a film screening and exhibition of photography and wire art commissioned for the film. This exhibition and film screening was held on the 11th of October 2024 by the first of our Artist Residents. To date 45 persons have visited this exhibition and the opening night presentation of the documentary: When Womxn Gather.
