TUNADO- STRENTHENING HONEY VALUE CHAIN

About this project

The Uganda National Apiculture Development Organization (TUNADO) in the ICSP will contribute to Impact area 1 of the ICSP which is aimed at ensuring that People experiencing poverty and most vulnerable to shocks, conflicts and crises have more sustainable and equitable access to food and livelihoods. The partner will focus on activities related to increasing the participation of women, youth and the vulnerable in the honey value chain. The key activities include; Facilitating Capacity development onapiculture practicesfor target groups, Expanding Access to climate resilient and adaptive technologies and approaches for mitigation and adaptation andorganizing women and youth into market collectives. Besides that TUNADO will also contribute to the restoration and rehabilitation of water catchment areas especially integrating the Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration approach (FMNR). This will increase water for production and reduce the climate change effects to communities At the National level TUNADO will convene and facilitate Apiculture Multi stake holder platform engagements. These are spaces that will bring together different actors such as bee keeper, processes, off takers, and ministry of agriculture among others. These engagements provide an opportunity to showcase achievements and also discuss issues that affect the sector. Through such events, evidence is generated for influencing purposes.
