About this project
This project proposes the establishment of a Community Soil Care Clinic to support farmers in South Lebanon whose lands were affected by the 2024 Israeli aggression. The clinic will help farmers test their soils for heavy metal contamination, assess biological activity, and receive customized guidance on soil regeneration using bioremediation techniques such as compost, biochar, and phytoremediation. By offering accessible, science-based soil diagnostics and advice, the clinic will relieve farmers of thehigh costs of commercial soil testing and contribute to restoring their agricultural livelihoods. The clinic will be hosted at Al Safir Farms in Ghaziyeh - Saida, a partner farm equipped with a composting unit and learning center. A mobile clinic team will conduct soil sampling in affected agricultural areas and perform on-site testing for heavy metals using a handheld XRF analyzer. Based on test results (including contamination levels, soil biology, and pH) the team will provide farmers with tailored recommendations for soil remediation and regeneration. Through this initiative, the Community Soil Care Clinic will serve as a hub for soil restoration and farmer education, promoting environmental recovery and agricultural resilience in post-conflict SouthLebanon. The project purpose is to build the capacities of the local communities in developing, field-testing and documenting bioremediation methodologies adapted to local conditions in contaminated agricultural lands in the s…
