About this project

“Food from Our Land” is an environmental agricultural project aimed at producing food, restoring land, and building community resilience for self-sufficiency in Gaza. The project builds on the success of an initiative that distributed edible plants in Gaza City, expanding it into the creation of a small-scale model for circular agriculture, environmental remediation, and community empowerment. Organic waste is collected from homes and markets and converted into natural compost for growing seasonal vegetables. The harvestsand seeds are then distributed to vulnerable families. The project relies on solar energy to operate water pumps and crop dryers, reducing operational costs and increasing social impact. It aims to empower families affected by conflict to rely on themselves instead of aid, while promoting a culture of sustainable home gardening as a way to combat the effects of climate change. The “Food from Our Land” project will be implemented over an initial period of 10 months, divided into clear phases to ensure effective execution and close monitoring, with the possibility of extension or expansion after the first phase. The plan focuses on using local resourcesand involving the community at every stage of implementation, promoting climate justice and sustainability.
