About this project

Gaza’s entire population of 2.2 million people is in urgent need of humanitarian assistance to meet their critical needs. The humanitarian context was dire even prior to the escalation in October 2023. Since then, according to OCHA Humanitarian Update (30 September 2024), at least 41,615 people have been killed by the conflict to date; over 70% are women and children, and 96,359 people have been injured. According to the UN, at least 1.9 million people (or nine in ten people) across the Gaza Strip have been internally displaced; this includes people who have been repeatedly displaced (some up to 10 times or more). Displaced communities are living in crowded shelters with limited access to food, water, and sanitation facilities. The IPC analysis (June 2024) found that about 2.15 million people across the Gaza Strip (96 percent of the population) face high levels of acute food insecurity classified in IPC Phase 3 or above (crisis or worse) through September 2024, including nearly 495,000 people (22 percentof the population) experiencing catastrophic food insecurity (IPC Phase 5) and 745,000 people (33 percent) facing emergency (IPC Phase 4). There remains a high and sustained risk of Famine across the whole Gaza Strip as long as conflict continues, and humanitarian access is restricted. As the conflict in Gaza persists, gender-based violence (GBV) is increasingly prevalent. Displaced women voice profound fears for their safety and loss of protection amidst the growing presence…
