About this project

Present in Niger since 1992, Oxfam has always supported vulnerable populations affected by natural or man-made disasters in the areas of food security, protection, promotion of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), peacebuilding, good governance, and active citizenship. All of Oxfam's interventions in Niger, whether carried out directly or in partnership with local and international organizations, aim to influence and promote social justice and the fight against poverty. In this context of fragility andconflict, Oxfam has capitalized on its field experience in emergency response and development to develop the capacity and expertise to bridge the gap between humanitarian action and resilience. This is achieved through the implementation of disaster riskmanagement mechanisms, advocacy for human rights, and the promotion of social cohesion in a context-sensitive approach, within the framework of its programmaticpillar called the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus Program. Since 2005, Oxfam has been implementing several emergency projects in sites for internally displaced persons, refugee camps, and indigenous communities. With more than 20 years of active presence in Niger, Oxfam has acquired a solid understanding of the local context and carries outhumanitarian operations in the regions of Diffa,Maradi, Tahoua, Tillabéry, and Zinder. Oxfam has a national headquarters in Niamey and three field bases/offices with humanitarian teams active in Diffa, Tillabéri, Maradi, and Zind…
