About this project

Rehabilitation of 4 community/institutional water sources inBusano village, Busiu village, Busiyangp primary school andMutese primary school all located in Busano sub county inMabale district. • Procurement and installation of 2 water tanksfor water harvesting in2 schools of Bubuyagu and Namubutyeprimary schools in Mbale local government. • Training of (40)members of governance disaggregatedas 10 members ofwater user committee members, 10 members of Village HealthTeams and 20 members of school management clubs toensure governance of the facilities. Project Context /Background[maximum words -200] Uganda is vulnerable to the impacts of climate change,experiencing shorter or longer rains and harsher droughts, whichpresent a threat to the ecosystem and people’s livelihoods.Mbale district in Mount Elgon region is one of the regions proneto disasters associated with heavy rainfall such as landslides andfl oods andthese disasters impact the lives and livelihood of thepeople by contamination of water sources used by bothcommunities and institutions. This situation limits access to water,sanitary facilities, due to over dependency in utilisation of surfacerun off springs. These are the only existing water sources and areat risk of contamination due to proximity to fi lled latrines.
