About this project

This action responds to urgent flood impacts in the districts of Mabalane, Mapai, and Massangena in Gaza Province, Mozambique, where pre-existing vulnerabilities have been exacerbated by the disaster. The project will reach 20,300 people through WASH and Protection interventions. WASH activities include distribution of 2,400 hygiene kits, rehabilitation of 20 damaged water points, cleaning and disinfection of 30 flood-contaminated water sources, distribution of 3,000 water purifiers in cholera- and diarrhea-affected areas, strengthening 20 water management committees, promotion of hygiene practices, and integration of Infection Prevention and Control in line with Sphere and WASH Cluster standards. Protection activities focus on strengthening community-based protection systems in displacement sites and affected communities. This includes awareness sessions on protection risks, GBV prevention and response, legalrights, and access to services, including support for replacing lost civil documentation. Service mapping and referrals will be conducted in coordination with authorities and protection partners. Mobile teams will provide psychosocial support and Psychological First Aid, and 750 dignity kits will be distributed to women and girls alongside appropriate communication materials
