About this project

In Gaza Province, floods affected 600K+ ppl <(>&<)> displaced 392K (IOM DTM ‘26). Impact is exacerbated by existing poverty rate (70-80%, UNDP ‘24). Risk index data shows coping capacity score of only 6.7/10, meaning that HH already exhausted their ability to manage shocks before the floods. RNA conducted in end Jan. by HPP members confirmed critical hum. needs. HH report near total crop loss(>90%), eliminating both food sources <(>&<)> income. Families lost on average 2–4 livestock, removing their primary financial safety net. Flooded roads have disrupted market access, <(>&<)> HH report that food prices have increased sharply (30–50%). FGDs confirmed HH have reduced meals to 1–2/day. Many homes are severely/completely destroyed. Displaced families take refuge in overcrowded schools <(>&<)> accommodation centres with minimal privacy <(>&<)> protection. Contaminated water sources pose a critical health risk. 95% of boreholes <(>&<)> wells are flooded <(>&<)> sanitation facilities in resettlement centres are overstretched (ratios up to 1:100), heightening cholera <(>&<)> other waterborne diseases risk. Serious protection concerns were reported. Communities face emotional distress, exposure to violence <(>&<)> barriers to assistance, esp. for PWD. Women in 14 FGDs raised serious safety concerns, incl. GBV, in resettlement centres due to lack of lighting, lockable shelters <(>&<)> gender-segregated latrines, creating conditions for violence <(>&<)> abuse in overcrowded sites. L…
