About this project
Shipments of plant products from Bangladesh to the European Union (EU) are occasionally being intercepted, because of faulty or absent paperwork. The use of digitised phytosanitary certificates could combat this problem. This project therefore aims to build the capacity of the Bangladeshi counterpart of the NVWA – the Plant Quarantine Wing – to issue electronic certificates in compliance with the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) and EU regulation to eliminate paper certificates. This improvement will ensure that agricultural products from Bangladesh are more streamlined with international e-certification standards, making it easier for companies active in Bangladesh to obtain certifications for their export products. Ultimately, e-certification is key for efficient trade in plants and plant products from Bangladesh to the Netherlands with gains for both sides.
