About this project
This project is part of the multi-annual Combi-track Grootvlei programme in the Grootvlei Dipaleseng Catchment area, South Africa. The aim of this Combi-track is to create alternative jobs to compensate jobs lost at the phasing out of the Grootvlei coalfired power station, to develop an agrohub and to develop a ‘proof of concept’ to serve as an inspiration for other sites aiming to phase out coal-powered electricity production, coal mining or comparable. This specific project provides for a liaison (working for, and reporting to, the Netherlands Embassy in Pretoria) having a central coordinating and advising role in the development of the Grootvlei Agrohub and other economic and combi track related initiatives in the region.
