About this project

The project aims to support Bangladesh’s textile manufacturers meet international Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) standards and stricter EU regulations. With growing consumer demand for sustainability and traceability, brands and suppliers must comply with waste management, recycled content, and product impact regulations to remain competitive in global supply chains. Many manufacturers in Bangladesh lack the technical expertise and financial resources to meet these standards, particularly in areas like wastewater treatment, recycled material traceability, digital product passports, and green energy. This project will address these gaps by providing technical support, capacity building, and access to financing, enabling manufacturers to adopt sustainable, circular production methods. The long-term goal is to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of Bangladesh’s textile sector, helping manufacturers meet international standards and improve environmental practices. This will be achieved through pilot projects, capacity building, and developing digital tools to trace recycled materials and calculate product impact in five Bangladeshi manufactories that produce for Zeeman, Wibra and XD Connects. Key activities include creating traceability systems (Tex.Tracer & Aware), developing decarbonisation plans by among others the introduction of solar panels (OneTrueValue), and improving water treatment and chemical processes (Colubris Cleantech & Solidaridad).Unlike previous i…
