About this project
This project aims to learn how farmers and agro-processors can transition from diesel-powered machinery to efficient electric processing equipment powered directly by solar energy. This productive use of energy pilot will deliver clear insights in a suitable, tailor-made financial model for farmers and in the savings of the improved machinery that will make this transition feasible and attractive. This transition then will reduce reliance on diesel, lower local emissions, strengthen local agricultural value chains and increase rural household income levels. This pilot is also preparation for future upscaling and replication.
