About this project

Indonesia is importing a high percentage of its food, despite the fertile soils and good climate. For this reason, the authorities have decided to produce more food in a sustainable and responsible way. Part of this strategy is the development of a number of ‘Food Estates’. One of the areas is the Food Estate North Sumatra comprising 2000 ha with sufficient water nearby and with access to the port of Medan. To strengthen these local efforts, projects are being designed to train local smallholder farmers how to produce much more food, also in greenhouse settings, in a responsible, environmentally friendly way. This project organizes the preparation and management of two Tailor Made Trainings for local stakeholders in the Food Estate North Sumatra.
