About this project

Insect Engineers B.V. produces industrial Black Soldier Fly (BSF) technology for large-scale, controlled insect production. Specifically, this involves a precision breeding system and a modular BSF rearing system. The technology enables the conversion of large volumes of organic waste into high-quality insect proteins for animal feed and organic fertilisers, ensuring consistent quality and efficient energy use.The demonstration will take place at the host site, ASECT, in Bangladesh. The applicant’s system will be installed there to demonstrate BSF cultivation specifically, to show that the precision breeding system enables controlled reproduction and early larval development year-round under tropical conditions.Although ASECT already cultivates BSF, operations are currently very small-scale. ASECT operates multiple businesses and focuses primarily on organic waste, possessing an extensive network in that sector; this is why Mush. Comb. selected them as the host partner. The application outlines a broad target group of stakeholders and parties involved in the project, such as municipalities, organic waste generators, and cultivation companies. The primary customers are organic waste processors and (small-scale) BSF cultivation companies in Bangladesh.
