About this project
The Philippines has recently endured a series of severe weather events, including the typhoons Tino and Uwan, followed most recently by the tropical storm Verbena. These typhoons brought unprecedented rainfall and widespread flooding across several provinces, with Negros Occidental among the hardest hit. Major parts of Bacolod City and surrounding municipalities were submerged, leading to large-scale displacement, significant damage to critical infrastructure, and disruptions toessential public services. The DRRS collaboration with the province will will focus on capacity exchange related to exposure analysis, flood risk mapping, and impact modelling — both through hands-on engagement and the sharing of best practices.
