About this project
On 24 June 2026, Venezuela was struck by two major earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, causing extensive damage across the Capital District, La Guaira, Miranda, Carabobo, Yaracuy and other affected states. Water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, health facilities and schools have been significantly affected, while UNICEF estimates that 1.8 million people, including 680,000 children, require humanitarian assistance. The deployment of a Sub-National WASH Cluster Coordinator (Roving) is urgently required to strengthen coordination in priority earthquake-affected areas, support implementation of the national water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) response strategy, facilitate partner coordination, identify and address response gaps, and contribute to an efficient, accountable and well-coordinated humanitarian response.
