About this project
For over two decades, the Netherlands has been a frontrunner in energy access in the Global South. Dutch development cooperation is now placing greater emphasis on water, food security, and health, alongside a growing role for the Dutch private sector in the development agenda.Renewable energy is a key enabler across these themes: it supports agricultural productivity, reduces food loss, improves water access, strengthens the medical cold chain, and ensures reliable, affordable energy supply. Building on rapid advances in renewable energy and large-scale initiatives such as Mission 300, these synergies create new opportunities for Dutch businesses, extending engagement beyond the off-grid solar and clean cooking companies currently represented in the NL Energy Compact network to a broader range of Dutch companies contributing to the energy transition in Sub-Saharan Africa.Building on this context, the assignment aims to provide the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with insights into opportunities for broader Dutch private sector engagement in supporting the energy transition across partner countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
