About this project
ThriveAgric hypothesises that agro-pastoral systems, integrating resilient crop production with livestock, offer a viable pathway for livelihood stability in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) when supported by appropriate technologies. This project proposes a digitally enabled, end-to-end agricultural model powered by Productive Use of Energy (PUE) and delivered through an Energy-as a-Service (EaaS) framework. The aim is to enable pastoralist households to diversify into climate-resilient crops such as millet and sorghum, which are drought-tolerant, culturally accepted, and serve dual roles: as human food and as raw material for livestock feed. Solar-powered processing units will enable local value addition, including the production of high-energy livestock feed from crop residues, addressing seasonal feed scarcity and reducing reliance on commercial feed imports.
