About this project
Trading horticultural products across borders requires a phytosanitary certification from the competent authorities in the trading countries. Currently the certification process in Ethiopia relies on paper phytosanitary certificates, a procedure which comes with all kinds of challenges and shortcomings. Introducing electronic phytosanitary (ePhyto) certificates will help Ethiopia to smoothen trade flows. The purpose of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the Ethiopian Agricultural Authority (EAA) as the competent authority for this task in Ethiopia that enables the beneficiary to issue electronic phytosanitary certificates in compliance with the international regulation.
