About this project
The Impact Cluster project Sustainable smallholder livestock concept for Burundi will start the professionalisation of the pork value chain, by establishing a parent stock (PS) breeding centre, training centre and feed manufacturing unit. The project partners will train 500 farm managers and technicians trained on housing, animal behaviour and wellbeing, biosecurity, feeding and livestock farm management. Furthermore they will reach and involve 5.500 smallholder farmers through the Universal Method of Value Access (UMVA) platform and G50 groups. Also they will target other stakeholders in the value chain with demonstration activities including: open days at the PS Breeding Center, external presentations held for the various stakeholder groups, publications and product sheets and business case descriptions.
