Terre365

About this project

The “Terre365 – Year-Round Integrated Climate-Resilient Farming in Burkina Faso” project is a three-year initiative that promotes climate-smart agriculture while creating jobs and strengthening local agribusiness. By combining Dutch agricultural innovations with local entrepreneurship, the project addresses low productivity, soil degradation, water scarcity, and youth unemployment. The project introduces an integrated package of solutions including mechanisation of the traditional Zaï technique through the Zainer machine, efficient irrigation systems supported by the Small-Scale Open Source Satellite-based Irrigation Advice (SOSIA) digital advisory tool, and organic soil improvement methods.Farmers, technicians, and youth service providers receive hands-on training to apply these technologies, enabling year-round crop production and improving resilience to climate variability. In addition, Terre365 supports rural employment and entrepreneurship by training youth as agricultural service providers, expanding local manufacturing of farming equipment, and strengthening the business cases of farmers and agribusinesses. Together, these activities create a local ecosystem of farmers, service providers, and technology suppliers that promotes sustainable agricultural growth and new rural enterprises.
