About this project

Resilient Incubation for Sustainable Aquaculture Entrepreneurship (RISE) aims to reduce the barriers that farmers face in order to become a commercial fish farmer. The project is implemented by a consortium of Ugandan and Dutch businesses and a knowledge institute. Together they have expertise along the entire value chain. The project facilitates an incubator that will train two cohorts of twenty entrepreneurs. They are equipped with shared cage infrastructure, high-quality inputs, guided production cycles and a structured training and learning facilities. It introduces efficient farming technologies, enhances technical and managerial capacity and lowers the investment risks that limit growth in the sector. This incubation environment enables participants to acquire essential skills and generate income in the process, without the significant upfront capital expenditure normally required.
