About this project

The RISE project aims to strengthen climate-resilient in-soil horticulture in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The region is increasingly affected by salinity, drought and soil degradation, while many farmers continue to use conventional practices that are no longer well suited to the changing soil and climate conditions. The project introduces and demonstrates a holistic approach combining soil diagnostics, suitable crop and variety selection, improved use of agricultural inputs and better water-management practices. The consortium, consisting of Eurofins, Fresh Studio, East-West Seed, Rijk Zwaan, Mekong Institute of Can Tho University and SALTA, will establish 14 Living Labs across the Mekong Delta, where farmers, extension officers, students and other value-chain actors can observe and learn from practical demonstrations. The project will train 700 farmers, 75 extension officers and 315 students, host practical student internships, organise workshops for public and private stakeholders and disseminate project results through local and national communication channels. In the long term, the project is expected to improve farmer productivity, resilience and income. By improving knowledge, practices and access to relevant technologies, the project aims to contribute to sustainable private sector development and long-term job creation in the horticulture value chain.
