Water as Leverage Cartagena – Construyendo con el agua: Team 'Cartagena ConAgua'

About this project

The programme "Water as Leverage (WaL) Cartagena – Construyendo con el agua" has successfully completed Phase 2. The two multidisciplinary teams have delivered prefeasibility studies for a total of five projects that aim to strengthen the city's climate adaptation, improve water management, and promote nature-based solutions. The multidisciplinary team 'Cartagena ConAgua' has worked on the project "Ciénaga de la Virgen District Park – La Bocana" and the project "Matute Stream". Together with the other multidisciplinary team (project PIPP23CO06), the project "Juan Angola Canal" has been delivered. The prefeasibility studies are available for download.These projects were co-created by national and international experts, together with the Municipality of Cartagena, local communities, public institutions, and private sector representatives, in a participatory process that has been key to aligning the proposed solutions with the real needs of the territory. The initiatives include urban interventions with the potential to reduce flood risks, restore ecosystems around water bodies, and create opportunities for sustainable development.The Phase 2 results of the other WaL Cartagena projects will serve as inputs to prepare further resilience actions in the city, such as hydrological and environmental improvements in the Ciénaga de la Virgen, or the definition of other long-term interventions in Cartagena and its surroundings.WaL Cartagena will continue its efforts to promote sustaina…
