About this project
This project aims to improve smallholder farmers' access to timely market information, addressing the challenge of limited resources for informed decision-making on prices and input costs. By implementing a voice-based market information service, farmers will receive real-time data through a simple, easy-to-use hotline system.Using Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology, the service will deliver market prices and input costs directly to farmers, regardless of literacy levels. The market information data will be sourced from the national Agri-Market Monitoring System, developed by IFPRI and funded by the Netherlands Embassy to Sudan. The project will also evaluate the service’s impact on farmers' knowledge and decision-making, ensuring it meets their needs and improves market behavior. Additionally, the project will test whether the service can be commercially viable and financially sustainable in the long term.
