Workshop System Change Ukraine

About this project

As part of an incoming visit from Ukraine, that focusses on the transformation of the Ukranian water resource management system towards the European Union (EU) water directive framework, a workshop based on the Water as Leverage (WaL) approach will be organised. This approach provides a tested framework to address complex water challenges through design driven, inclusive and integrated processes, starting from local challenges and scaling towards system change.This workshop brings together the government of Ukraine and the Netherlands, stakeholders of both countries, Dutch knowledge and design partners, and the Ukrainian diaspora in the Netherlands, to jointly explore how the System Change can be reached through the WaL approach, toidentify concrete project opportunities that align with Ukraine’s recovery agenda, including international financing pathways.The workshop covers two mornings as part of the incoming visit on Tuesday 8 September 2026 in Rotterdam and on Wednesday 9 September 2026 in Delft. The locations are provided by Deltares, the Ukraine - Netherlands Urban Network (UNUN) and Vereniging Deltametropool.Deltares as lead partner will organise this workshop that aims to deliver 1 or 2 concrete project opportunities that align with Ukraine’s recovery agenda, including international financing pathways.
