About this project
The Chronic Crisis III project, a collaborative effort between Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) and Netherlands Red Cross (NLRC), aims to strengthen the resilience of 70.348 refugees and host community members in Arua and Madi Okollo districts of Uganda to water-related risks, including flood and drought. The project builds upon previous interventions in the region and addresses the ongoing challenges faced by communities in a protracted refugee crisis, exacerbated by climate change impacts. The project focuses on two key outcomes: improving community capacity for early warning and preparedness to disasters, and enhancing access to and use of water, sanitation, and hygiene services. These objectives will be achieved through a range of activities, including strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) groups, implementing community action plans, rehabilitating water sources, improving sanitation facilities, and promoting environmental conservation.
