About this project

The Initial Response Fund (IRF) is a tool created by the Swedish Red Cross on 1 January 2023 as a dedicated financing mechanism to strengthen the immediate response capacity of National Societies (NS) facing imminent, emerging, or rapidly deteriorating crises. The IRF targets National Societies in countries where the Swedish Red Cross maintains a presence and has since become an integral support tool enabling swift assistance to partner National Societies.The scale of the current Ebola crisis requires increased resource mobilization. With this emergency funding of USD 46,847, the Red Cross of the DRC will be able to cover the priority needs related to the start-up of activities. With this emergency funding of USD 46,847, the Red Cross of the DRC will be able to cover the priority needs related to the start-up of activities, including: • The deployment of a 9-person rapid response team, 7 from Kinshasa and 2 from Beni in North Kivu, to support the revitalization of activities in the target areas for 30 days (air tickets, go-pass, accommodation, per diem); • The procurement of the supplies needed to ensure a smooth start of activities (latex gloves, boots, face masks, sprayers, work clothing for the SDB teams); • The rental of four vehicles in Ituri for 15 days to support safe and dignified burials of the deceased.
