About this project

Pakistan faces overlapping vulnerabilities that have intensified the humanitarian consequences of the 2025 floods. High levels of poverty, chronic malnutrition, and a fragile health system still recovering from COVID-19 and the devastating 2022 monsoon floods have left millions with limited coping capacity. As of 8 September 2025, floods have claimed 922 lives and left 1,047 injured across Pakistan, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab reporting the highest tolls at 504 and 244 deaths respectively. The 2025 monsoon floods have caused widespread devastation across the country, affecting vast areas in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Sindh provinces. According to the death toll, KP is the most affected province. However, in terms of infrastructure, livelihoods, and agriculture, Punjab has borne the heaviest impact. There is an increased risk of disease outbreaks and significant livelihood losses, particularly among agriculture dependent communities and displaced populations. The scale of the crisis has exceeded the immediate coping capacity of communities and local authorities.
