About this project
The FORT project is an EKN-funded food security project implemented by a consortium led by Agriterra and complemented by Wageningen Social and Economic Research (WSER) and the Uganda Cooperative Alliance (UCA). It has a lifespan of 5 years, starting in November 2024 and ending in October 2029. The project aims to address the structural challenges faced by Uganda's smallholder farmers (SHFs), by supporting sustainable agricultural productivity, increase incomes, and strengthen resilience against climate change and market vulnerabilities by helping SHFs organize and gain access to quality inputs, financial services, and markets. It also helps to strengthen farmers' organizations (FOs), especially less developed or established ones, by making them more transparent, democratic, and accountable to their farmer members. The target is to reach 200,000 farmer households by the support of 180 informal FOs, and 120 formal FOs.
