About this project

The Rural Kenya Financial Inclusion Facility project (RK-FINFA) is funded by Government of Kenya and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The project’s goal is to reduce poverty, enhance climate change resilience and improve livelihoods in rural areas by increasing rural financial inclusion and green investments by agriculture value chain stakeholders (Agri-MSMEs and smallholder farmers). RK-FINFA is a six-year project targeting 14 counties across Kenya targeting 190,000 rural households through financing and capacity building with specific focus on youth and women, 66,000 smallholder households and 2000 MSMEs with access to finance and technical services. Under the project, Cordaid aims to offer technical support services to selected Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) and Business Development Services (BDS) to smallholder farmers and their organisations in 7 counties in Western Kenya namely Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Nandi, Siaya and Kisii counties. In so doing Cordaid will contribute to the achievement of (a) Increased Rural Investments (b) Employment Creation (c) Higher rural incomes (d) Gender Equality in Finance.
