About this project

Solidaridad is implementing the SAFAL for Integrated Water Resource Management (SAFAL for IWRM) project in the coastal region of Bangladesh to harness the sustainable use of surface water for agriculture and promote business innovations for food system development. Supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, SAFAL for IWRM project is fostering nature-based solutions to restore the prosperous earth system, conserving water, soil and the ecosystem services for safeguarding the agriculture and rural economics. The Theory of Change of SAFAL for IWRM is to develop a community-based water management model for harnessing sustainable use of surface water for agriculture and business innovations for food system development. The project is developing proof of concept for community-based water management to enhance ecosystem-based farming and bringing innovations in land-use planning and climate change adaptation. Through the three interconnected pathways 1) Micro-watershed rejuvenation and management, 2) Climate smart and regenerative agriculture, and 3) Governance for micro-watershed management, SAFAL for IWRM is contributing to community led water management and the development of sustainable and climate resilient agriculture.
