About this project
In this programme in India, we support farmers who predominately grow tea, cotton and oilseeds to adopt sustainable regenerative practices and connect them to rewarding markets that pay for ecosystem services. In addition, we promote circularity in the leader and textiles fashion sectors focusing on providing technological access, setting up demonstrations, embedding decent working conditions requirements and capacity building. We work directly with workers, industry associations and key stakeholders in the leather clusters. We establish and strengthen Centres of Excellence, a proven concept to facilitate uptake of new technology and best practices among leather and textile industry players. We dedicate specific attention to enable women to actively participate in formal market systems and reap its benefits. By fostering an enabling ecosystem, including policy reforms, gender-responsive practices, and target interventions, we aim to promote women's meaningful engagement in the supply chain, empowering them economically and promoting gender equality.
