About this project

The P2P project in Colombia is focused on Coffee and Palm Oil. Regarding coffee, the main problem that the project will address is soil degradation. To contribute to the solution of this problem, the project aims to support coffee farmers, focusing on strategies that foster the adoption of soil management and conservation practices, which can allow them to have a more resilient production and the opportunity to receive additional income due to the provision of ecosystem services. Therefore, Solidaridad Colombia will provide training in climate-smart agriculture, deforestation-free production, and payment for ecosystem services in line with current regulations for coffee producers. To scale our interventions and ensure widespread impact, we will leverage field promoters and the Coffee, Forest, and Climate Agreement. Solidaridad will transfer its expertise and build capacity among leading coffee farmers, promoters, and cooperative groups. Furthermore, we will strengthen the technical teams of member companies within the Agreement who provide assistance to producers. The main problem that will be addressed in Palm Oil is poor labor conditions. To contribute to the solution of this problem Solidaridad will support smallholders (who employ labor in their farms) and their farm workers by measuring the status of labor conditions, developing improvement plans and supporting the adoption of better labor practices in collaboration with the palm oil mills and Fedepalma.
